Happy Summer!

Yes, it's getting so lame to post once a year and gush about how busy we are, and how time flies by so quickly....BUT IT'S TRUE, DAMMIT!!    I suppose I should blame Facebook, and how it makes it so darn easy to stay in touch and connected to those who are near and far, but it's certainly not as fulfilling for the wordsmith in me.

So where am I today?  I am enjoying my two little nieces, and my one little nephew.  They have come along at the perfect time in my life - - keeping the baby fever (and grandbaby fever) at bay.  I am enjoying establishing a relationship with them, and getting to know their individual personalities.

I have all four of my chicks in the nest again.  It is strange, there is a distinct sensation deep inside my mother heart, that everything is whole and complete again.  A lot more work, but satisfyingly so.

Zack graduated high school, and leaped right into adulthood with a full-time job.  He will be starting college in the Fall, but let's be open-minded and see where this takes us.

Duchess, our 16 year old rat terrier, is on her last legs these days.  Every morning, I check on her with baited breath, wondering if she will still be with us.  She's getting tired, and I hope her transition is as smooth as possible.  It is always so heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet. I can't help wondering why we invest so much love and emotion when you know at some point you will be shattered.  But, that's the whole point of a good life, isn't it?
